Isostatic Molding

We at Asanplast Engineers Pvt Ltd use Isostatic molding procedure for the molding of PTFE Liners and other products.

In this process, PTFE powder is filled in a molding die of the desired shape and dimension. The mold is then placed in a pressure vessel, and the vessel pressurized to enable PTFE powder compaction. After the compression phase, the mold is sintered in an oven and cooled in a controlled manner to give the final molding article.

Features

Since there is an even and constant application of pressure throughout the cycle time the PTFE molded article produced has the following properties:

Lower void content
Less prone to permeation
Component free of distortion
Component with uniform physical properties
Lower shrinkage during sintering
Greater physical strength

During isostatic molding, very little pressure decay occurs as compared to compression molding and Paste extrusion processes. This is because of absence of die wall friction. This enables the molded article to have uniform physical properties.
Studies have shown that PTFE Isostatically Molded liners have excellent mechanical properties, which results in high hoop and axial strength. These properties enable the PTFE Liner to withstand full vacuum at elevated temperatures.
